About this project
Motidevi Shrestha is the only female member among the five founding members of the Nepal Communist Party, who was involved in the great campaign to raise awareness, awaken, and organize the people for democracy and radical change against the then autocratic Rana regime. Despite facing hardships, Motidevi Shrestha stood firmly by the declared goals and objectives, until her passing on May 21, 1997 (2054 BS, Jestha 7). To remind the new generation of this fact and to further contribute to women’s participation, leadership development, and continuity in political movements, the Motidevi Memorial Center was established on June 10, 1997 (2054 BS, Jestha 27).
